Final Essay,

South Central today is like a heart without blood. It’s still beating, but it isn’t good enough. South Central isn’t good enough because of all the violence that goes on. South Central is also good because of it’s opportunities and it’s education. South Central has good schools and good homes. It can be good because of the education there is, but there’s a lot of violence with gangs. There’s innocent people getting killed on the streets as they go home, and innocent females getting raped by heartless males. I do like living in South Central because it my home of opportunities. The only reason I sometimes don’t like living in South Central is because of the dangerous streets, and persons that can hurt you while your walking, or even when your in a car.

The first even I truly believe made South Central what it is now is the LA Riots. The LA Riots started in 1992 and all because the police officers who beat Rodney King were proven not guilty. The police officers beat him severely for 15 minutes because he was speed driving at 110 mph. I believe this wasn’t fair and not a good enough reason for them to beat him up. The cause of this brought so much hate to people and this is were the Riots occured. People begin to tear and burn down liquors and stores. Over $1 billion was the result in damages. To this, it is whats made South Central how it is now. The way it is formed, the way stores are now , and the way people are now. This is how racism was created in South Central and the way people act to others, especially the hate. It is all comming from this.

The gangs formed were the bloods and the crips. First it was the Black Panthers and Brown Berets. These types of gangs weren’t gangs to kill people, they were formed to fight against the racism of whites. They were fighting for their rights. The government thought they were a threat to South Central, therefore the COINTELPRO brought them down. After the Black Panthers and Brown Berets were destroyed the bloods and crips came in. The bloods and crips were created by Tookie Williams and Raymond Washington. They started the crips in Western and Imperial Hwy. Due to the formation of the crips and bloods, they do not get along and they’re always fighting, and killing themselves. These gangs are still alive now, and I believe this is whats made South Central now because of all the killing thats been happening. South Central is dangerous and theres so many violence. The violence comes from the gangs, and it brings it to south central. Therefore, south central has become violent because of the gangs.

Crack cocaine is a drug that destroyed many families, and still is destroying many families now in South Central. The crack epidemic started in the 1980’s when the CIA, led by Ronald Reagan begin to bring in crack cocaine to South Central. Crack begin to seperate many families including leaving there babies behind. People on the street were desperate and would sell themselves for crack. Crack is still happening in SouthCentral and it’s still destroying many families. I believe that if crack was never broughten to South Central it wouldn’t be the way it is now. Families wouldnt be torn apart, children wouldnt be abandoned and left behind. Crack is the major reason why South Central is what it is not because it has such a big effect on it. South Central is horrible, there’s people on the street because of the crack. If it wasnt for that it would be a better place.

Overall, the La Riots, Gang History, and the Crack Epidemic is what’s made South Central what it is now. The racism, the gangs(bloods and crips), the broken families is what’s made South Central what it is now. The way how South Central is now is bad, dangerous, and violent, all due to these events. This is how horrible South Central has became. I believe South Central wont change at all. The crack will still go on because even though those who have tried it are tired of it there’s new people trying it, people who are barely starting, and it is really addictive! I believe the gangs will get tired of eachother, but something new will come up, something more violent. There’s still young children growing up and getting into a gang. Therefore, their barely starting and they have alot more to go experiencing the gang. Due to that they will become more violent and more kids will start getting in making more crimes, and more violence.

SOUTH CENTRAL, WILL ALWAYS BE THE SAME!!
